August 1: 8 degrees 30 feet - 9 degrees 30 feet Leo.
Feast Day: Lugh’s Day; Lady’s Day; Lammas; Lughnasa or Lughnasadh
Cards in play today include the Tower trump and the Page of Cups, who are traveling to the Lammas festival. Traveling to the harvest festival once meant coupling the journey with a visit to a sacred site, such as a holy well or mountaintop. It meant leaving in advance, calculating for delays because of weather and striking up friendships on the road . Without road signs or maps, the landscape itself guided the traveler. One landmark often looked for in early Christian Ireland was the monastic round tower. Much of our road has been shared with the Knight of Wands, protector of pilgrims, until today. He parts from us as we reach the Lammas fair, the Tower trump and the Page of Cups.
